Seattleslew.com is proud to announce the arrival of our first Christmas Ornament. This ornament was designed and produced by American Greetings as part of their Carlton Heirloom Ornament Collection and is part of a scheduled series of Carlton thoroughbred racing related ornaments paying tribute to Thoroughbred racing’s greatest athletes.
This detailed ornament features Seattle Slew along with jockey Jean Cruguet just a few feet from the finish line of the 1977 Belmont Stakes, the last leg of the Triple Crown. This pose was not only exciting because Slew went on to win the Triple Crown but also became famous when Cruguet, so caught up in the moment, stood up in his irons, turned and looked at the racing fans while waving his whip in a victory celebration before he ever crossed the wire. It was not only exciting that day but an exciting day in racing history for Seattle Slew on June 11, 1977 became the first and only undefeated triple crown winner and continues to hold the title to this day.
Measuring approximately 4” x 4” the ornament lists many of his career highlights that truly depict Seattle Slew as a true champion.
This ornament will be a collector’s item for years to come and would be the perfect gift or to enjoy for your own personal collection.
These ornaments are limited in quantities so order yours today.
